Bob Geldof and Harvey Goldsmith needed a ticketing solution to deliver 150,000 free tickets to the UK public in under 4 weeks. In addition to this, they wanted to try and offset the cost of the concerts around the world.

Working with the UK mobile operator O2, Mobile Interactive Group set up a massive nationwide campaign to promote a competition to win free tickets. To enter, members of the public were invited to text a shortcode and, if successful, received a winning code directly to their handset. Winners were able to redeem their code in any O2 store nationwide. The campaign was handled by Mobile Interactive Group's high throughput gateway and application VoteWinner; the service peaked at 1 million messages in 1 hour.

results

All tickets were distributed in record time and featured positively in the national press. The campaign raised over £3 million for the cause. Massive footfall was delivered into O2 stores showing a rise in sales on certain products. The logistics of the ticket delivery was driven through the web and in-store. The entire campaign was completed cost efficiently and effectively.
